Supporting Mental Wellness in Our Community

May is recognized nationwide as Mental Health Awareness Month — a time dedicated to raising awareness, encouraging conversations, and supporting individuals and families affected by mental health challenges.
The Liberian Association of Greater Charlotte (LIBAC) joins communities across the country in recognizing the importance of mental wellness, emotional support, and compassionate care for all.
This year’s awareness message reminds us to “See the Person. Support the Journey.” Behind every smile, every conversation, and every daily interaction is a person carrying experiences that may not always be visible on the surface. Mental health challenges can affect anyone — regardless of age, profession, background, or circumstance.
As a community organization committed to unity, empowerment, and support, LIBAC encourages our members and partners to:
Listen with empathy and understanding
Check in on family members, friends, and neighbors
Promote healthy conversations around mental wellness
Encourage individuals to seek support without fear or stigma
Create safe spaces where people feel heard and respected
Mental health is an essential part of overall well-being. Seeking support is a sign of strength, not weakness.
Throughout this month, we encourage our community to continue learning, supporting one another, and building a culture where mental wellness is openly discussed and valued.
