The Liberian Association of Charlotte, in proud collaboration with Monrovia Express, is thrilled to announce the 178th Independence Day Celebration—a multi-day event honoring Liberia’s rich history, culture, and community spirit right here in the Queen City!
This year’s celebration brings together Liberians and friends of Liberia for a weekend full of culture, connection, and pride. From spiritual reflection to vibrant festivities and athletic competition, each day offers a unique way to honor our heritage and build stronger community bonds.
Event Highlights:
Sunday, July 20 – Thanksgiving Service
Join us for a soul-lifting worship experience at Woodingting United Methodist Church in Charlotte, NC. Let’s give thanks as a community for how far we’ve come and where we’re going.
Friday, July 25 – Red Carpet Ball
Walk the red carpet in style at the Hilton at Waverly, Charlotte, NC 28208. This elegant evening of fashion, music, and celebration is one you won’t want to miss.
Saturday, July 26 – Cultural Festival
Gather at Sugaw Creek Park (5430 N. Tryon St, Charlotte, NC 28206) for an all-day celebration of food, music, dance, and family fun! Come support our vendors, enjoy performances, and indulge in authentic Liberian cuisine.
Sunday, July 27 – Soccer Game
A community favorite! Details on the location are coming soon, but expect a thrilling match as we wrap up the celebration weekend.
